Top Ten Tuesday!

I thought this would be a fun theme this week. I am sorry for my relative silence as of late; I’ve been distracted and trying to sort my head out. I hope this helps me somewhat and as always, I hope you guys like what I’ve written. Let me know your picks below!

1. Harry Potter. It should have been obvious that this would be my first choice. And yes, I consider them all as one. I would really be heartbroken if anything happened to them.

2. Beauty and the Beast related books. BatB is my favorite movie. It has been since I was five. I have the original story and a few other books that are retellings. Lost In A Book in particular, I really loved that one.

3. Little Women. I just upgraded to a hardcover this year. My paperback was falling apart completely and I decided to upgrade. It’s a well loved story and whistle I could replace it, I don’t want to.

4. Gone With The Wind. I need to upgrade to a hardcover, this one is falling apart too. It’s a book that got me through some trying times, some boring times, etc. Its another favorite.

5. Miss Peregrine’s boxed set. It’s a delightful series, different from my usual reads. It’s, well, peculiar. And I would be sad to lose them. (Especially since they’re hardcover and I got them on sale! Hardcovers are expensive, OK? Lol)

6. The Diary of Anne Frank. We had to read it in school and well, I still have my copy. It’s a bit beat up but I don’t honestly mind, given that it’s a story I think everyone should read.

7. The Great Gatsby. I read it for a Lit class I took. One of few college courses I took and I just got lost in the tale. Simply put? I love the story, old sport!

8. My autographed editions. I don’t have many but I would beside myself if I lost any.

9. Game of Thrones. Still waiting for the next season and the next book…may as well reread the series until one or the other comes out.

10. Stalking Jack the Ripper series. I think these are the books that made me realize, “hey, YA has come a long way!” and I am grateful for that because I was missing out.

Of course, if this was a natural disaster that happened in the blink of an eye, I would regretfully leave them behind because ultimately, they are replaceable. Whatever I like to think. It would be first and foremost

to get to safety with my parents and my dog, Tess. There’s a pic of her, my wee Beastie. (She’s the Queen in My House, don’t let me fool you, lol.)

Anywho! Enjoy your Tuesday and I hope this gets me out of my slump! If you have any book tags…help me out? Lol, be good! xx

WWW Wednesday!

I know I said something similar last week, but does it freak you guys out how fast this year is going by? It’s August already! And I’m a month and one day away from birthday number 32. I’m just in awe. I mean…where is time going? Granted, I’m looking forward to things happening–it’ll be primary day here and I can’t wait to vote. Make sure you’re registered! Your voice counts! And I’m, of course, looking forward to my birthday. Yearly trip to Books-A-Million!

I’m dying to get started on this one. It looks so good and I’m just over the moon to finally have it. I tried to get an ARC but that didn’t pan out. But it’s a-okay because Book of the Month had it. 😀

I finished MJ Rose’s Tiffany Blues! My review comes soon and I have an interview with her soon. Color me excited!

I am so in love with this story. I’ve had it on my shelf for a while but I had other books to read and I kind of forgot it. I would have finished it last night more than likely, but I was cross-eyed tired. But let’s just say, I am so grabbing up the rest of this series when I hit up Books-A-Million next month.

Blogger Tag!

This looked like a fun tag! The Original creator of the tag is Amber Elise @ Du Livre. I figured I could get one more post in tonight before I called it quits for the night. So, here we go, let me get going!

When did you start blogging and what was your first review?

Almost four years ago exactly. August 7th, 2014!

Who/what inspired you to start blogging?

I have answered this in other posts but I started on a whim, actually. I was bored and I was in the midst of a book that I wasn’t enjoying at all. I wanted to rail at it, to scream and rant and rave…and I did so. I found I liked trying to put into words what I was feeling and voila! It was actually author Susan Elia MacNeal who pointed me to NetGalley and well, from there…as they say, ‘the rest is history!’

What is a blog-related goal that you have?

The answer that was here previously was to ‘have fun’. And that’s the goal here too. To have fun. The day this stops being fun and feels like a chore, I’m probably going to take a break or I may write up my ‘Farewell’ post. Fortunately, I’ve only one had one break and I have no inclination to stop.

What is one thing you wish someone told you about blogging?

Oh gosh. That other people may have posts that look better than mine. But not to let it get to me. (I’m insecure, what can I say?)

What was your biggest blog-related accomplishment?

I think that I’m close to 400 followers is pretty spiffy!

What types of posts do you enjoy writing?

I love to do there bookish-memes! I like to write reviews too, haha. Spotlights…I don’t think there’s any type of post that I don’t really enjoy doing.

Where do you usually blog? What does your setup look like?

I have a recliner out in the living room and I sit there on my laptop. It’s a bit messy at the moment, so I won’t share a picture, but usually my dog, Tessie, is scampering around the room, my mother is watching TV and my aunt is on her laptop or in her office working on her jewelry and Tupperware sales. I usually have my headphones on, a million web tabs open, Spotify playing (I love to blog listening to classical music) and Discord on, so I can talk to my friends. Yes, if you ask, I do have ADHD, ya’ll.

What was your last 5-star read?

C.W. Gortner’s ‘The Romanov Empress.’

What was your last 1-star read?

I believe that was Lili de Jong. Ugh. I gave it a one star and that was because I liked the cover, I think. I know that’s mean, but I’m not going to sing the praises of a book I did not enjoy in any way, shape or form.

What are three words that make you pick up a book?

Fiction, adventure, interesting.

What is your Hogwarts House?
Did you not take note of my house badge? No?

What is your favorite reading environment?

My Bed!

What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Have fun. Keep an open mind. Pace yourself. ❤

F is for Friday!

How to participate in the meme:
1. Credit the creator of this tag (Nomadic Worlds! 😉 ) and link back.
2. Answer the four questions to the best of your ability.
3. Most important of all, enjoy yourself!

F – Feature your latest book obsession (it doesn’t have to be your current read)

F – Favorite quote of the week/day
F – Five things you’re happy or grateful for this week.

My Latest Book Obsession….

My latest book obsession is my books from MinaLima. They’re just beautifully illustrated and the interactive features are wonderful. They add so much to the stories. I enjoy little things to touch and move, to turn and twist.

What am I doing this weekend?

This weekend, I aim to do two things, if possible. First, to see Christopher Robin in theatres because…Pooh Bear! ❤ And secondly, I need to read MJ Rose’s Tiffany Blues. I was going to read it sooner but first, my kindle malfunctioned and secondly, I didn’t want to forget anything. Let’s face it, we all know I’m kind of absent-minded.

I am quite excited as I have heard nothing but good things. As you may recall, I just recently had her here as she had written with Steve Berry. I would post a spotlight but it comes out Tuesday and I will have everything you need to know posted then, links, advance praise, a review, the synopsis. So please be certain to stop by to read them! 🙂

.Favorite Quote.

My favorite quote today…does it have to be from a book I’m currently reading? Or perhaps from a film? Because today, I watched Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children with my mother, and I think I shall quote from the books.

Five Things I’m Grateful For.

-I am grateful for my family and friends.
-I am grateful that we have a roof over our heads and food on our table.
-I am grateful for all my lovely followers!
-I’m grateful that summer is almost over. (All it has done is rain! It’s made my allergies hellish.)
-I’m grateful that my health is pretty good. 🙂
