1. What is your favorite genre?
I looooove Historical Fiction. I think that’s rather obvious. But I also enjoy YA and fantasy. I like biographies and autobiographies here and there too.
2. Who is your favorite author from that genre?
I absolutely love C.W Gortner, Margaret George, Stephanie Dray, Stephanie Thornton, Kate Quinn. There are countless others, but they come to mind first.
3. What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?
Historical Fiction, when well written, can draw you into the world and time period that you’re reading about. It is a stunning sensation. Every good author can do this, but for me, there’s something about an author who can make history come alive like that for me.
Fantasy, it’s just fun to be in a world where anything can happen and nothing is impossible!
YA, I honestly just very much enjoy them. They’re good books and that makes me happy!
4. What is the book that started your love for that genre?
Fantasy/YA: Harry Potter.
Historical Fiction, I got into with the American Girl series, followed by the Dear America series. But I think Ann Rinaldi’s books were what really made it an obsession for me. We had required summer reading in school and her book ‘In My Father’s House’ was one of them. I read every single one of her books after that. There was also a book called ‘George Washington’s Socks’. A historical fantasy novel that made me laugh.
5. If you had to recommend at least one book from your favorite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading that genre, what book would you choose and why?
Oh, my Gosh. I would have to know what period of history. I think I would recommend any of C.W Gortner’s books. My favorite of his is a tie between ‘The Last Queen’, which is about ‘Juana La Loca’ and I loooooovvve his book about Catherine de Medici.
6. Why do you read?

If I had to choose a favourite genre it would definitely be historical fiction as well! I have not read as much of it lately as I would like to! Have you seen the TV show Reign? It made me fall in love with Catherine de Medici so I need to read that book!

I didn’t like Reign! But I was being extremely snobby about it; mainly because I read the message boards and such, and some fans really had no idea about Mary and Francis (that they were real people. -facepalm-) and argh. But I am going to give it another try.
Catherine, however, I watched clips of her on YouTube. Forever my favorite, lol!! Megan Followes was amazing.

Reign is definitely not historically accurate! I think as long as you know that going in it is a really fun show. Megan Follows is definitely the star! She is fantastic and makes the show worth watching. I hope you enjoy it more this time!
